Phoenix Rising

Phoenix Rising is a high-end, multiple-award-winning custom A-frame residence designed by Todd Gordon Mather Architect. A far cry from a homely mountain A-frame cabin, this structure boasts large full-height windows, floating stair and loft framing, and multiple aesthetic architectural projections. These specialty project aspects required the creative use of robust structural steel frames to meet the high load requirements resulting from the heavy Sierra snowpack while still maintaining the sleek, minimalist look that the design called for. Around 70% of the vertical walls are dedicated to windows, and unique dormers bring in light to nearly every room. Named “Phoenix Rising” as this elegant design replaced the previous home which burned down in a fire.
